The inaugural Costa Palmas Film Screening Weekend —
a family-friendly exploration of the Sea of Cortés, our Sea of Dreams.
A celebration of ocean, story, and the spirit of exploration.
The inaugural Costa Palmas Film Screening Weekend, East Cape Frames, is a family-friendly exploration of the Sea of Cortés — our Sea of Dreams. Through ocean adventures, documentary screenings, and conversations with filmmakers and conservationists, the weekend celebrates the marine life, history, and spirit of exploration that define the East Cape.
In collaboration with ocean advocate Vasser Seydel and a group of renowned underwater storytellers, Costa Palmas invites members and their guests to a weekend of discovery above and below the water. Snorkeling and diving experiences, storytelling workshops, photography exhibitions, hands-on family activities, and curated film screenings will bring the magic of the Sea of Cortés to life for guests of all ages.

Terry is a legendary figure in Baja California — an American veteran who has spent decades living on, and in, the water. Once burdened by a troubled past, his life changed through an unlikely friendship with Willy, a 22-foot oceanic manta ray.
For nearly two decades, Willy would slap his wings against the hull of Terry's sailboat to signal their next dive. Together they explored the depths of the Sea of Cortés, forming an extraordinary bond that ultimately transformed Terry into an unexpected conservationist.
Now in his 80s, Terry sets out on one final journey to a remote island in hopes of reuniting with his old friend. Directed by award-winning filmmaker Cody Sheehy and produced by acclaimed filmmaker Mark Monroe.
"A wild manta ray visiting a human every single day for years. Terry was the first person ever to ride a giant manta. I knew immediately there was a documentary here."
